Bio

Lucy Heller was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She received her B.A. from The College of Wooster and her MFA from American University. Prior to attending American, Lucy worked for the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay where she published blogs focused on projects, events, how-tos, and tips & tricks for becoming an environmental steward in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. During her time at American, Lucy’s work centered on creative nonfiction essays geared towards the millennial experience. The essays in her thesis explored themes of navigating the digital age, nostalgia, pop culture, and the influence of social media, reflecting on the unique anxieties inherent to coming of age during the early 2000s. When she’s not reading or writing, you can find Lucy biking on the Mount Vernon trail, walking her dog, Eddie, or re-watching Bob’s Burgers.
