Building Bonds Through Project Clean Stream

In 2019, I was working at the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay as a Chesapeake Conservation Corps member when I was suddenly handed a key role in coordinating the Alliance’s annual Project Clean Stream. I had very little experience helping to lead multi-event programs and less than a year of nonprofit work under my belt, but I dived in headfirst and helped coordinate hundreds of stream cleanups around the watershed.

Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters in York-town, VA, a B4B member, takes pride in acting locally by spreading awareness about the work that is needed to support the Chesapeake’s restoration. The business, which specializes in roasting fair trade, organic or Rainforest Alliance Certified coffees, trains its employees to become environmental stewards while offering an environmentally friendly product.

Watershed forum celebrates diverse, innovative partnerships

The first weekend of November marked the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay’s 13th annual Chesapeake Watershed Forum in Shepherdstown, WV. The event was a whirlwind of workshops, socializing, getting lost in the yellow, autumn forest and learning about what brings us all together under this year’s theme, Connecting Our Communities: Celebrating Diverse and Innovative Partnerships.

Chesapeake Week is over but simple, everyday actions are important

For us Annapolitans, the Bay is front and center in our everyday lives. But the majority of the people that live, work and play in the region don’t make the connection between their backyards and the 100,000 tributaries that flow into the Chesapeake. Every one of the 18 million residents in the watershed have an impact on the 64,000 square miles of streams, forests and wetlands of the national treasure we all call home.
